SSC CHSL Tier 2 Exam Pattern

This is a (DES)descriptive exam and is conducted offline. Candidates need to write Essay/Letter/Application/Precis. This is to test the written skills of the candidates in English/Hindi. The best way to prepare for the same is to read lots of articles from various newspapers. Focus on the Intro. and conclusion of the Essay. Apart from this, you need to be well aware of the pattern of Letter and Application.

Important Points:

• The time duration is 60 minutes and carries 100 marks.
• The exam duration is 80 minutes for candidates who are visually handicapped or suffer from cerebral palsy.

SSC CHSL Tier-III Examination
Tier-III of the Examination would be the Skill Test/ Typing Test which would be of qualifying nature.
The final merit of the successful candidates would be determined on the basis of total score obtained by them in Tier-I and Tier-II.

What will be the items that one has to carry along with Admit card?

Candidates should bring 3 passport size colour photographs. Candidates not carrying photographs may not be allowed to appear in the examination. In case the scanned photograph(s) appearing in the Commission’s copy of Admission Certificate and or on Attendance Sheet is not clear invigilators are required to verify the identity of the Candidate with reference to the photo ID Proof and get colour photographs pasted on the Commission’s copy of Admission Certificate and or on Attendance Sheet

• Inequality

The other most important topic for IBPS PO Prelims Quant Section is Inequality. The number of expected questions on this particular topic is 5. There is a possibility of two types of questions on this topic. First is the usual concept of Quadratic Equations and Second is the new pattern of Quantity 1 and Quantity 2 where the questions asked are based on Profit and Loss, Average, Mensuration, etc. and you will have the compare the two quantities based on the solutions obtained. So students, be well prepared with Quadratic Equations to cross that bridge when you come to it. • Number Series

Number Series is an equally important topic for IBPS PO Prelims Exam. The number of expected questions from this topic is also 5. The number series are mostly based on two patterns, Uniform and Non-Uniform Pattern: The uniform pattern may have series based on Addition, Subtraction, Prime Numbers, Squares, Cubes, Decimals, etc. The non-uniform pattern may include the series based mixed pattern of the topics mentioned for the uniform pattern. The only way to deal with this section is practice. The more you practice, the more easily you recognize the pattern of series.

• Simplification and Approximation

The number of expected questions on this topic is 5. This can be the simplest part to deal with if you are good at calculations. So be fast with calculations and keep practicing, it will always stand you in good stead. The important trick to deal with this section is to remember the VBODMAS Rule and have all the tables, cubes, squares entirely grasped.

• Other miscellaneous topics

The number of expected questions on miscellaneous topics is 10. The topics that come under this particular topic are CI & SI, Time and Work, Pipes and Cisterns, Partnership, Profit and Loss, Ratio and Proportion, Percentage, etc. 6 out of these 10 questions too will be doable and one should try to finish them within 7 minutes. The questions are generally framed in a twisted manner and may be time taking. So, this is how you have to manage to attempt this section. Make sure that the time that you spend on solving this section doesn't exceed 20 minutes.

English Language

The trick to scoring in English section can vary from one person to another depending on his/her strengths and weaknesses. If you are good at vocab and reading then attempt the reading comprehension first and proceed with Cloze Test and other miscellaneous topics like Error Detection, Para Jumbles, Phrase Replacement, Double Fillers, etc. But if you are good at grammar, attempt Reading Comprehension in the end. The Reading comprehension too should be attempted in a way that you attempt questions based on vocab and phrases first and then the questions that need a deep penetration through the paragraphs. The important topics for cloze test are subject verb agreement, preposition and verbs. These topics may help you some other questions too that will be based on grammar. So make sure that you have these topics on your finger tips when you are to attempt the examination. This section should be finished within a time limit of 15 minutes.
