832 = 2600*2*X/100

Thus, X = 16

Solve, x = 2400.

10. The ratio of X’s 3 years hence and Y’s age 3 years ago is 4 : 3. After 7 years from now X’s age will be 10 less than twice Y’s present age. Find the difference between the ages of both ?

Sol. (X+3)/(Y-3) = 4/3
so, 3X – 4Y = -21

Thus, 0.504x = 10080

1. Normally it takes 6 hrs for tap A to fill a tank but accidently tap B was opened due to which tank was filled 2 hrs earlier. If the tank is emptied completely and tap B is opened then how long will it take to fill the tank ?

A. 10 hrs
B. 12 hrs

Sol. Lets assume it takes 'x' hrs for tap B to fill the tank.
Then, 1/6 + 1/x = 1/4
Solving, x = 12 hrs.

2. The length of the rectangle is 20cm and the breadth is 8cm more than twice the length of the rectangle. The area of the square is 15 times the area of rectangle. Find the perimeter of square ?

A. 400
B. 450
C. 480
D. 460
E. None of these

Sol. Breadth = 2*20 + 8 = 48cm
Area of rectangle = 20*48
As given, area of square = 15*20*48 = 14400
Thus, side of the square = 120cm
Perimeter of square = 4*120 = 480cm.

3. Suresh purchased a phone at Rs 5000 and sold it at a gain of 20%. From this amount he purchased another phone and sold it at 10% loss. Find its overaall loss/gain ?

Sol. Second S.P. = 5000*(120/100)*(90/100) = Rs 5400
Total Gain = 5400 - 5000 = Rs 400.

4. The present age ratio of Rajesh and Mahesh is 3:8. Mahesh's present age is 12 yrs less than Rohan's present age. Rohan's age will be 50 yrs after 6 yrs. Find Rajesh's present age ?

Sol. R/M = 3/8     (where Rajesh's age is R and Mahesh's age is M)
Also, M = Ro -12 (where Rohan's age is Ro)
Also, Rohan's age is = Ro = 50 - 6 = 44 yrs.

5. In an election there were only two candidates . One of the candidates secured 40% of votes and is defeated by other candidate by 300 votes. The total number of votes polled is ?

1. 5 years ago, the ratio of age of Rajesh and his son was 12:5. 5 years hence, Rajesh's age is 10 years more than double his son's age. Find present Rajesh's age ?

A. 60
B. 65

Sol. Lets assume Rajeesh's present age to be 'x'
And his son's present age to be 'y'

According to the question, 
(x-5)/(y-5) = 12/5

and 

(x+5) = 2(y+5) + 10

Solving these, we get,
x = 65 years.

2. Two cards are drawn from a peck of 52 cars, one after another without replacement, such that if 1st card drawn is honour card then 2nd card will also be a honour card. Find the probability of getting atleast 1 honour card ?

A. (36*35)/(52*51)
B. (16*15)/(52*51)
C. 1 - (36*35)/(52*51)
D. 1 - (16*15)/(52*51)
E. None of these

Sol. Probability of having atleast one honour card = 1 - probability of drawing none honour card.
Thus, Probability of drawing no honour card = (36/52)*(35*51)
Therefore, required prob. = 1 - (36*35)/(52*51).

3. Rajesh sells two maachines each of Rs 8400 to Mahesh such that no profit or loss is made. If he sold 1st one for 20% gains then what loss% he sold the 2nd one ?

Sol. As cost of both product is same thus to negate the 20% gain it should be 20% loss.

4. Ashish spends 20% in rent, 70% of the rest in house-hold expenses and saves Rs 1800. Find his income ?

Sol. Lets assume Ashish's income to be 'x'
Then, Rent = 20x/100 = 0.2x
House-hold expenses = (70/100)*(80x/100) = 0.56x

According to the question,
x - (0.2x + 0.56x) = 1800
Solving, x = Rs 7,500.

5. X and Y invested in a business in the ratio of 5:6. At the end of 8 months X withdraws from it. If the profit is in the ratio of 5:9. For how long Y's investment was used ?

1. A boy multiplied a number by 3/5 instead of 5/3, what is the percentage error in the calculation ?

Sol. Lets assume the number be 'x'.
Difference in result = 5x/3 - 3x/5

Percentage error = [(5x/3 - 3x/5)/(5x/3)]*100 = 64%.

2. The average weights of 3 groups of friends of 50, 30 and 20 members respectively are 50kg, 52kg and 55kg. What is the average weight of all friends taken together ?

Sol. = [(50*50)+(30*52)+(20*55)]/100
= 51.6 kg.
