A. 2800
B. 2780
C. 2810
D. 2820
E. None of these

Sol. 18*1 + 2 = 20
     20*2 + 4 = 44
     44*3 + 6 = 138
    138*4 + 8 = 560
    560*5 + 10= 2810

2. 2, 3, 6, 11, 18, _

A. 25
B. 26
C. 27
D. 28
E. None of these

Sol. 2 + 1 = 3
     3 + 3 = 6
     6 + 5 = 11
    11 + 7 = 18
    18 + 9 = 27

3. 1, 5, -4, 12, -13, _

A. 25
B. 23
C. 24
D. 22
E. None of these

Sol. 1 + 4 = 5
     5 - 9 =-4
    -4 + 16= 12
    12 - 25=-13
   -13 + 36= 23

4. 2, 3, 5, 9, 17, _

A. 36
B. 33
C. 32
D. 31
E. None of these

Sol. 2 + 1 = 3
     3 + 2 = 5
     5 + 4 = 9
     9 + 8 = 17
    17 + 16= 33

5. 15, 10, 20, 5, 25, _

A. 10
B. 5
C. 15
D. 0
E. None of these

Sol. 15 - 5*1 = 10
     10 + 5*2 = 20
     20 - 5*3 = 5
      5 + 5*4 = 25
     25 - 5*5 = 0

6. The sum of the ages of A and B is 64 years. Five years back, the age of A was half of the age of B. Find the present age of B.

A. 18
B. 30
C. 41
D. 45
E. 23

Sol. According to the question,
A + B = 64
and
A - 5 = (B - 5)/2

Solving these, we get, B = 41 years.

7. In 1 kg mixture of tea and sand, 81% is tea. How much sand should be added so that the proportion of tea becomes 72% ?

A. 125 gm
B. 90 gm
C. 100 gm
D. Data insufficient
E. None of these

Sol. Initial tea amount = 0.81 kg = 810 gm
Initial sand amount = 0.19 kg = 190 gm

Let amount of sand added to be 'x' gm,
New tea amount = 810 gm
New sand amount = (190 + x)gm

72 = [810/(1000+x)]*100
x = 125 gm.

8. The dimensions of a metallic rod are 37cm, 4cm and 2cm and each side of a metallic cube is 6cm. Both are melted and recast into a new cube. Find the length of edge of cube so formed ?

A. 6
B. 7
C. 8
D. 9
E. 10

Sol. Lets assume the length of edge is "x"

37*4*2 + 6^3 = x^3
x^3 = 512
x = 8 cm.

9. A man spends Rs 5340 for buying tennis racquets at Rs 1200 each and tennis ball at Rs 180 each. What will be the ratio of racquets to balls when number of racquets bought are 4.

A. 3:4
B. 4:3
C. 2:3
D. 1:2
E. None of these

Sol. Lets assume no. of balls to be 'x'
4*1200 + x*180 = 5340
x = 3.

Thus, racquets : balls = 4:3.

10. In a deck of 52 cards, a card is randomnly picked. If the card found is red, it is replaced with a black card,  and vice-versa. If a card is drawn after replacement,, whta is the prob. that it will be a red card ?

A. 1/2
B. 25/104
C. 27/104
D. 1/4
E. 27/52

Sol. Case-1: 1st card drawn is red,
thus, no. of red cards = 25
Probability of drawing red after replacement = (26/52)*(25/52) = 25/104.

Case-2: 1st card is black,
thus, no. of red cards = 27
Probability of drawing red after replacement = (26/52)*(27/52) = 27/104.

Required Probability = 25/104 + 27/104 = 1/2.
