Solutions

S2. Ans.(b)
Sol. Total monthly salary in the five persons in 2008
= Rs. 75 thousand
Arvind’s total monthly salary = Rs. 45 thousand
Required percentage =45/75×100=60%

S3. Ans.(d)
Sol. Earning of each one over all the years
Sumit = Rs. 60 thousand
Anil = Rs. 40 thousand
Jyoti = Rs. 75 thousand
Arvind = Rs. 45 thousand
Poonam = Rs. 60 thousand
Hence, the second lowest earning per month in Arvind

S4. Ans.(c)
Sol. Required percentage =(25 - 20)/25×100=20%

S5. Ans.(b)
Sol. After an increase of 30% Jyoti’s salary in 2010
=(30 ×130)/100 = Rs. 39 thousand

(6-10):

Number of students in different faculties
Subject
Year 2001
Year 2002
Arts
4200
4400
Commerce
7700
9600
Science
8400
8800
Agriculture
2450
2000
Engineering
6300
7600
Pharmacy
2100
3600
Medicine
3850
4000

S6. Ans.(c)
Sol. The number of students decreased from 2450 to 2000 in Agriculture.

S7. Ans.(d)

Number of students studying Pharmacy in 2002 = 3600
∴ Required ratio 2100 : 3600 = 7 : 12

S8. Ans.(e)
Sol. Difference = 7600 - 6300 = 1300
∴ Required percentage increase
=1300/6300×100
= 20.63 ≈ 20

S9. Ans.(b)
Sol. Total number of students in Arts and Commerce faculties in
= 2001 = 4200 + 7700
