11. Twenty-four men can complete a work in 18 days and twenty women can complete the same work in 16 days. Thirty-six men started the work and left after 3 days. Now ten women started the work and left after 4 days. What amount of left is completed by now ?

Sol. 24m in 18 days, so 36 in 24*18/36 = 12 days

In 3 days, they did 1/12 * 3 = 1/4 work

20w in 16 days, so 10 in 20*16/10 = 32 days

In 4 days, they did 1/32 * 4 = 1/8 work

So completed work = 1/4 + 1/8 = 3/8.

12. A box contains 150 tickets (numbered 1 to 150). Find the probability of drawing a ticket containing a multiple of 3 or 6.

Sol. Required Probability = 50/150 = 1/3.

13. An article is marked 25% above the cost price and it gets a 10% discount also. Find the profit percent if the seller cheats while selling by using 10% less weight ?

A. 23%

Sol. Let CP = 100

So MP = 125

So SP after discount = 90/100 * 125 = 112.5

Now seller selling 10% less in weight so CP = Rs 90

Now CP = 90, SP = 112.5

So profit % = 22.5/90 * 100 = 25%.

14. X and Y started a business with investments Rs 1800 and Rs 2400 respectively. After 6 months, Z also joined them with investment of Rs 4000. If after a year a total of Rs 42,000 is earned as profit, what is the share of Z ?

A. 25,500

10/(9+12+10) * 42,000 = 13548.

15. A rectangular box has length, breadth and height in the ratio 7 : 2 : 7. These are respectively increased by 20%, 5% and 50%. What is the percentage increase in volume of rectangular box ?

A. 89%

B. 85%

C. 90%

D. 96%

Sol. 7x, 2x and 7x, so volume = 98.

Now when increase is done, ratio is

(120/100)*7x , (105/100)*2x , (150/100)*7x

New volume = 185.22

% increase = (185.22-98)/98 * 100 = 89%.
