1. Radius of circular wheel is 35 cm ad it moves at the rate of 500 revolutions per minute. Speed of the wheel is:

Sol. Distance covered in 1 rev. = Circumference of wheel
Circumference of wheel = 2*22*35/7 = 220 cm

Given, wheel is rotating 500 times in a minute.
Distance covered in 1 minute = 500*220 = 110,000 cm = 1.1 km.

Hence, distance covered in 60 minutes = 1.1*60 = 66km
Thus, speed of the wheel is = 66 km/hr.

2. What will be the ratio of simple interest earned from a certain amount at the same rate of interest for 6 years and that for 9 years ?

Sol. S.I. for 6 years = P*R*6/100
S.I. for 9 years = P*R*9/100

Ratio = (P*R*6/100)/(P*R*9/100) = 2/3.

Sol. According to the question,
1/x + 1/y = 1/5

and

2/x + 1/3y = 1/3

Solving these we get, y = 10 days.

Sol. Simple interest = 8216 - 5200 = 3016
3016 = 5200*r*8/100
